JLW Promotions is an event services company that specializes in event promotion and music entertainment by booking talented beach bands or DJs. Judie Walters, owner for JLW Promotions, has been a Board Advisor for the Carolina Beach Music Awards since 2005. She also serves as the board's liason to CBMA Shag Club Committee.

JLW Promotions "National Entertainment Connections" Booking Agent, Consultant, Events, Promotions, which gives her the opportunity to refer a band she knows and trusts for your event. Besides Carolina beach music, Judie promotes southern rock & roll, jazz and blues bands as well.

JLW Promotions aka Judie's Patio Parties are held in various locations. Originating in Charlotte, NC at the Legendary Old Cellar, with the closing ot Morehead Street Tavern, the restaurant part of the Dance Hall, Old Cellar, Judie then moved her parties to Lynn's Dance Club In Charlotte, NC, then later with a new opportunity in Ocean Drive Beach, NMB, as Entertainment Director at another legendary club, the Spanish Galleon, Judie also hosted Judie's Patio Party at Spanish Galleon and the OD Beach Club.

Ginger Olszewski

Ginger was born and raised in Lancaster County, PA. She grew up in a household surrounded by music. Her great grandmother taught piano, and her grandmother played by ear, which was always astonishing to behold! She played clarinet in her high school’s marching band, and still plays the family piano, which has traveled up and down I 95 a few times and still resides in their home in Beaufort.

Lancaster County is just a little west of Philadelphia, and Ginger was a big fan of the Dick Clark Saturday dance party. So, many years later, when Ginger and Dave found themselves in South Carolina with friends asking them to a SHAG party, it was a no-brainer. The rest is history.

The high points of that history include Dave holding the position of VP, and then President of the Beaufort Shag Club for the past 3 years.

Dave and Ginger have a few remarkable accomplishments under their belts. They have competed at the Edisto Island Shag Fest twice, and placed third both times. In NMB, last November, they competed at the CAMMY competition and placed second.

Professionally, Ginger enjoyed a long and rewarding career in department store management with Hecht’s, Macy’s, and Belk. After her retirement from retail, Ginger is now with the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce as the Membership Engagement Coordinator.

Music and dancing is in Ginger’s DNA, and she is honored to be an ambassador for the Carolina Beach Music Academy.

Ed Hamer
Northen Virginia Shag Club

Ed Hamer is a relative newcomer to the Beach Music Scene, although he first was exposed to shag dancing on Hilton Head in the mid 80’s it wasn’t until a move to Durham in 1998 that he fell in love with Beach Music after hearing Big John Ruth on Sunday nights. Another move to Northern Virginia in 2005 provided an opportunity for Ed and his wife Pam to finally learn how to shag. After joining the Northern Virginia Shag Club and taking the basic lessons, he and his wife then decided to take private lessons from Janice Grimes. He is currently Vice President of the NVSC and a Shag Club Rep for the CBMA. He has been a member of the CBMA for the past 6 years and he and Pam have attended the last 8 CBMA awards show, have tickets for this years show and are looking forward to many more.

Arlene Johnson McMurtry - Belmont NC

My love for dance and band music began in the late 50's- early 60's doing the Jitterbug and listening to local bands like The Shakers who played at a nearby venue called Cat Square. I have had past involvement with Gaston Shaggers and Shelby Shaggers. which are both great clubs. I have a great husband named George that enjoys music but doesn't share the love for SHAG as I do, however he never complains when I want to go dance. We have four sons and daughters in law w/ eight grands and one great grand that we share. We both enjoy church, golf and boating. My volunteer work has been with the Look Good Feel Better Cancer Recovery Program, which is very rewarding as I have been a working Cosmetologist since 1968.and am the owner of Scissor Smith & Co. Salon in Kings Mountain, NC. I also am active with the Keep Belmont Beautiful Program coordinating the Yard of the Month which is a lot of fun. I was excited when I was approached to work with the CBMA and am looking forward to becoming better aquainted with all of the many people involved in all of the facets of the Beach Music Industry. Kevin Carr - Belmont NC

Currently president of the Two Rivers Shag Club in Belmont, NC and member of the Gaston Shaggers and the Shelby Shaggers. Married with two children and two grandchildren who are the loves of our lives. Born and raised in Belmont and graduated from South Point High School. Shortly after graduation I went to work for Duke Power and after 40 years I retired from Duke Energy. Introduced to the shag dance and beach music a little late in life due to being raised on 70’s rock n roll, but now I’m hooked. Working for the shag dance and beach music family is a true pleasure and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as a Shag Ambassador.
